Global warming is our common challenge. The city of Lahti is a forerunner in efforts to reduce carbon footprint and it has set a target to be a carbon-neutral city by 2025. To achieve that goal there are several initiatives going on, one of which is CitiCAP. A platform for personal carbon trading.

Lahti in Finland, is a city of 120,000 residents and a centre for a region of 200,000 people. It has the best of both worlds: the attractiveness, intimate cosiness and originality of a small town, yet the services, efficiency and logistics of a major city.
Lahti is the European Green Capital 2021.
The idea of the city of Lahti was unique. Lahti aimed to build a platform that gathers mobility data, convert it to a personal carbon footprint, and utilize it also for personal credits at the carbon trading marketplace. The schedule was tight and such a platform did not exist.
The core of the CitiCAP is a platform for managing the user carbon balance, calculating the carbon emissions for each trip, and supporting the carbon emission trade.
